Meet Olga!

Hello!

I am Olga, a Birth and Postpartum Doula serving Washington, DC, Northern Virginia and Maryland. I believe that all families deserve to be supported during and after birth. I am passionate about working with immigrant families, families of color and all religious backgrounds.

Before I became a doula I worked with the United Nations and other international organizations as a human rights lawyer. My work was centered around assisting refugees from all over the world. This was very rewarding work, and helped me to understand the importance of addressing the needs of people in crisis. It also helped me to learn about different cultures and backgrounds. I have traveled the world extensively, having lived in and visited more than 25 countries.

In 2016, my journey brought me to the US where I settled with my husband. Our family is rooted in love of music, spirituality and world cultures. Being an immigrant pregnant woman in the US, at first I found it challenging to navigate the complexity of the US health system. After doing an evidence-based research, I decided to give birth to my daughter at home, using HypnoBirthing®. I was open-minded and ready for whatever course the birth may take. I had an amazing birth support team, consisting of my husband, a midwife, a HypnoDoula and a friend-acupuncturist. After 22 hours of labor, with just one hour of active labor (thanks, herbs!), I gave a birth to my beautiful daughter Naima. Giving birth was the most empowering experience in my life.

As a human rights activist at heart, I decided to devote my life journey to help other women to transform their birth journey into empowering experience. Whether you want to give birth at home, in a hospital or in a birthing center, I would love to support your choices and facilitate a gentle birthing and postpartum experience.
