Birthing at Anne Arundel Medical Center

Summary

The Frank Family Birth Center at Anne Arundel Medical Center welcomes approximately 5,500 babies a year! They believe in the family centered model of care, and it shows in their amenities, practitioners, resources, class offerings, and even their extensive website is full of information!

In addition to board certified and highly experienced obstetricians and excellent, experienced nurses, both Special Beginnings and Bay Area Midwifery attend births at Anne Arundel Medical Center.  Should the need arise, both practices have a great working relationship with the hospital OB’s. The Center for Maternal and Fetal Medicine is also located at the hospital and will work closely with your doctor or midwife.

There is a Level III NICU known as ‘Teddy’s Place,” located in the hospital to care for premature babies or other infants who need extra support and care at birth.

Anne Arundel Medical Center supports all methods of feeding, and provides a full range of breastfeeding support.

Balanced Birth Support has several doulas who regularly attend births at Anne Arundel Medical Center, and they say that it is very welcoming to doulas. They have also said that they, and their clients, have had excellent experiences!

Food

There are many food options available in and around Anne Arundel Medical Center. If you or your visitors would prefer to eat out of the hospital, there are many restaurants within walking distance.

The Garden Cafe is located on the first floor of the Clatanoff Pavillion. 6:30am-1:30pm .

Bayside Cafe: Belcher Pavilion, Level 2. Open Monday to Friday, from 6:30 am to 4 pm. Closed holidays.

Southside Cafe: Hospital Pavilion South, Level 1. Open seven days a week: Monday to Friday, from 6:30 am to 10 pm. Saturday and Sunday from 8 am to 10 pm. Holidays from 8 am to 4:30 pm.

Southport Eatery: Hospital Pavilion South, Ground Level. Open seven days a week, including all holidays from 6:30 am to 8 pm and 1 am to 3 am.
