Meet Nancy McMillen; Birth & Postpartum Doula, Lactation Counselor

I have spent my entire professional career dedicated to two areas about which I am very passionate — women’s health and childbirth.
I look forward to supporting and serving the natural childbirth needs of the mothers and families in our community.

I was born, raised, and educated in Venezuela from immigrant parents from Spain.  I have lived in various locations in the US and in other countries and travel extensively .
I have lived in Chantilly,VA since 2010 with husband and our 2 boys.

My two boys were born in Miami at Baptist Hospital, via unmedicated Natural Birth.  I am very thankful for my birthing experiences. Through them I have learned to better understanding of the process, patience, strength and power of women.

Since I was a little girl, I wanted to be able to take care of others, and to provide comfort to sick people. I knew early on that I wanted to be a Doctor. My mother was a natural healer, and she knew so much about all the natural remedies and syrups to make you feel better. I learned from her and I decided to go to Medical School after I finished high school. It took me 8 years to become a Doctor, two more of rural medicine, and 4 of Residency program. When I moved to the US I decided to become a Midwife and I found the Midwifery model of Care.

In 2016 I became a CPM (Certified Professional Midwife). Since then I worked at NOVA Natural Birth Center as a Primary Midwife and I now run my own home birth based practice.
Over the past 25 years, I have served thousand of families and I have attended thousands of births.

I hope you and your family will entrust us with being a part of the joy and sacred beauty of your natural birth as so many other satisfied families have done.
