In Depth: Balanced Birth Support’s 3-Hour Comfort Measures For Birth

Are you looking for a childbirth class focused on easing the pain and uncomfortable sensations of labor and birth? Have you taken a childbirth class with a previous baby and are looking for a refresher? Balanced Birth Support's 3-Hour Comfort Measures For Birth class might be exactly what you are looking for!

Balanced Birth Support's 3-Hour Comfort Measures for Birth class is taught by Sara P, a Balance Birth Support birth and postpartum doula, and childbirth educator. Even though this class is only three hours, it is packed full of information focusing on ways to relieve (or reduce) the pain and uncomfortableness that can accompany labor and birth.

This class is appropriate for any kind of birth; medicated, non-medicated, home, hospital, birth center, vaginal, c-section, induction. Whatever your birth is or will be, this class will help you manage the pain and sensations associated with it.

In this class you'll learn non-medical techniques to relieve the pain and uncomfortable sensations whether you are at home, hospital, or birth center. This includes relaxation techniques, how to use hydrotherapy for deep relaxation, massage, how to use a peanut or birth ball, and optimal positioning for sleep and rest in early labor.

You'll also learn all about your medical options for pain relief including epidural, spinal blocks, nitrous oxide and how to use non-medical techniques to support them. You'll learn ways to position your body for pain relief and birth with your epidural, and different positions you can employ to help with pushing and birth.

Finally, one of the cornerstones of the comfort measures class is partner assisted relaxation and pain relief options. You and your birth partner will learn about visualization and relaxation, massage and counter-pressure techniques, and the importance of emotional support and encouragement.   Your birth partner can be instrumental in helping you manage pain of both labor and birth, and provide an encouraging and supportive atmosphere.
