Meet Gabby- Birth and Postpartum Doula DC Metro

postpartum and birth doula maryland

Supporting families during the postpartum period is deeply meaningful to me. This time can bring a wide range of emotions, physical healing, and significant changes, yet it is often one of the most overlooked stages of care. I believe every family deserves to feel seen, heard, and gently supported during this tender transition.

My goal is to provide a calm, nurturing, and judgment-free space where parents can rest, recover, ask questions, and gain confidence as they settle into their new rhythm together. I began my formal journey as a postpartum doula in January 2020, after spending two years providing overnight newborn care. While I have supported families for nearly 19 years—most of that time as an Early Childhood Educator—I found a deep calling in walking alongside families during pregnancy, postpartum, and the early parenting years.

I am passionate about showing up for new parents in ways that feel grounding and empowering, helping them parent with confidence and intention while offering a listening ear, trusted resources, and compassionate, whole-family care. Over the past seven and a half years, I have had the honor of working with more than 30 families from diverse backgrounds, beliefs, and religions throughout the DC Metro area and Baltimore.

Through this work, I have gained extensive knowledge in pregnancy, childbirth, postpartum recovery, newborn care, basic lactation education, postpartum mood and anxiety disorders, and gentle sleep-shaping strategies that align with each family’s unique parenting style. My approach is client-centered, calm, and rooted in respect—meeting families where they are and supporting them without judgment.

I have trained with organizations including ProDoula, Stillbirthday, Madriella Doula Network, Newborn Care Solutions, and The Center for Pediatric Sleep Consulting, and I am a proud  member of Evidence Based Birth®. I am committed to ongoing education and evidence-informed support, ensuring that families feel seen, supported, and confident as they navigate one of the most transformative seasons of their lives.

In the near future, I hope to expand my work to include birth doula support during labor and delivery. I am deeply drawn to this role because I believe every birthing person deserves to feel safe, supported, and truly heard during one of the most vulnerable and powerful moments of their life. My goal is to nurture and advocate for families as they navigate birth, ensuring they have access to evidence-based information, emotional reassurance, and steady, compassionate support so they can make informed decisions for themselves and their baby—or babies—with confidence and clarity.

Who am I outside of supporting families? I’m a proud Maryland native who loves Maryland blue crabs and being a boy mom to two amazing children. When I’m not supporting families, you can usually find me spending time with my own—traveling, bowling, or browsing for home décor (modern farmhouse is always my go-to). I also enjoy winding down with a good glass of Merlot. I’m a big fan of medical dramas and comedies Grey’s Anatomy may or may not be on constant rotation—and I love balancing cozy days at home with exploring scenic places whenever the weather allows. These simple joys help keep me grounded, present, and recharged, allowing me to show up fully for the families I support.
