Nancy McMillen
I have dedicated my entire professional career to two areas about which I am deeply passionate: women’s health and childbirth. It is an honor to support families in our community as they prepare for the deeply personal and transformative experience of birth.
I was born, raised, and educated in Venezuela by parents who immigrated from Spain. I have lived in several parts of the United States and abroad, and my extensive travels have given me a deep appreciation for different cultures, traditions, and approaches to pregnancy and birth. Since 2010, I have lived in Chantilly, Virginia, with my husband and our two sons.
Both of my sons were born at Baptist Hospital in Miami through unmedicated, physiologic births. I remain incredibly grateful for those experiences, which gave me an even greater understanding of the birth process and a profound respect for the patience, strength, and power of women.
From the time I was a little girl, I knew I wanted to care for others and bring comfort to people during vulnerable moments. My mother was a natural healer with extensive knowledge of traditional remedies, and her influence inspired me to pursue a career in medicine.
After high school, I attended medical school in Venezuela, completing eight years of medical education, two years practicing rural medicine, and four years of residency training. When I moved to the United States, I discovered the midwifery model of care and found an approach that aligned beautifully with my belief in respectful, individualized, and family-centered care.
In 2016, I became a Certified Professional Midwife (CPM). I later served as a primary midwife at NOVA Natural Birth Center and now operate my own home-birth practice. Throughout more than 25 years of serving women and growing families, I have supported thousands of families and attended thousands of births.
My approach honors birth as both a natural physiological process and a sacred, life-changing experience. I strive to help each family feel safe, informed, respected, and confident while providing experienced, compassionate support throughout pregnancy, labor, birth, and the early postpartum period.
I look forward to supporting your family and being entrusted with a place in the joy, strength, and sacred beauty of your birth experience.
