Maddie Bird
Hello, my name is Maddie, and I am a birth doula who believes deeply in strengthening each client’s confidence and protecting their right to make informed decisions.
Every birth is different, whether it takes place in a hospital, birth center, or at home. My role is to walk alongside you and collaborate with your chosen birth team, providing emotional reassurance, physical comfort, and evidence-based information. I want you to feel heard, your preferences respected, and your experience honored.
My journey into birth work began when I hired a doula for the birth of my first child in 2022. I grew up in a small Midwestern town and had never heard of doulas until—believe it or not—my husband introduced the idea.
We hired our incredible doula late in my pregnancy, and the experience opened an entirely new world to me. As an active-duty military service member with experience working in a hospital, I was accustomed to caring for patients but had not always had the opportunity to build meaningful, ongoing relationships with them. Doula care showed me the profound difference that trust, connection, and continuous support can make.
I understand that inviting another person into your birth space is a significant and deeply personal decision. That is why building a genuine relationship with my clients is so important to me. I want to take the time to understand your values, concerns, hopes, and preferences so you feel comfortable and secure with me beside you.
My goal is to help create a safe, affirming, and nonjudgmental environment in which your emotional well-being matters. Birth does not always unfold according to plan, but you can still feel informed, respected, supported, and meaningfully involved in every decision.
If I had to describe myself in a few words, I would choose compassionate, joyful, encouraging, adaptable, and a good listener. These qualities allow me to remain calm and responsive as circumstances change while keeping your individual needs at the center of my care.
Outside of birth work, you can usually find me playing with my two children, exercising at the gym, spending time outdoors, or rewatching one of my favorite television series—from Bones to The Vampire Diaries. Being outside and spending time with my children bring me peace, even during life’s most chaotic moments.
I look forward to getting to know you and would be honored to support you as you prepare to welcome your baby.
