Allie Alvarado
I’m Allie, a certified birth and postpartum doula through the Madriella Doula Network. I aim to be someone you can relax around—someone who pays close attention to what matters to you and your family. I bring a calm, caring, intuitive, and nonjudgmental presence and offer support in both English and Spanish.
My path to birth work began about 10 years ago when a close friend called me from her labor and delivery room. Between breaths, she asked if I could come to the hospital and watch a movie with her.
I knew immediately what she really meant: “I need you to be here with me.”
I got into my car, found a long-term parking space, and hurried to her room. She was already deep in labor, moving her hips on a birth ball and focused on having an unmedicated birth.
I had no formal training at the time. I was simply there as her friend, but it quickly became clear that my role was to stay beside her, support her, and help her feel safe doing what she had prepared for.
She had done so much work to prepare mentally, emotionally, physically, and spiritually. I understood that my job was to protect that space for her. Six hours later, she welcomed her baby in the way she had hoped.
That experience changed me. It showed me how deeply it matters to have someone beside you during birth who is steady, present, and genuinely on your side. It planted the seed for what eventually became my calling: to offer that same reassuring presence to other families.
Before becoming a doula, I spent many years creating learning experiences for young children and supporting their social and emotional development. That background continues to shape how I work with families.
I bring patience, curiosity, and respect for each person’s individual pace. I also understand that pregnancy, birth, postpartum recovery, and early parenthood rarely follow a perfectly straight or predictable path.
I spent part of my life as a touring musician, which may sound unrelated to doula work, but it taught me skills that feel deeply connected to birth and parenting: how to follow a rhythm, listen closely, adapt in the moment, and recognize when to step in or create space.
Birth has its own timing and flow. The postpartum period does too. As a postpartum doula, I help families settle into their evolving rhythms while providing practical newborn care, emotional reassurance, feeding support, opportunities for rest, and encouragement as parents build confidence.
Whether I am supporting you during labor or helping your family adjust after your baby arrives, I center your needs, values, and choices. My role is not to direct your experience but to help you feel informed, respected, capable, and cared for throughout it.
I believe birth is a moment that lives within people long after it ends. How we are cared for during birth and postpartum becomes part of how we remember ourselves, our babies, and our families.
It is a genuine honor to be invited into such an intimate and meaningful part of your family’s life—and to be the person who sees you, stays with you, and remains on your side through every decision.
