When expecting her oldest daughter 10 years ago, she realized she might not know much about newborns but knew she wanted to give her baby the best start possible. After facing challenges when learning to breastfeed personally as a young mother who faced bias from the medical communities, her experience led her to find her passion for supporting new mothers with empathetic, unbiased support. She became a breastfeeding peer support counselor, turned birth/pp doula, LLL leader, student IBCLC, and finally an IBCLC.
Demi understands that there are many resources and voices in our ears from the moment we announce a pregnancy. It can all be confusing, conflicting, and overwhelming. As a Doula & IBCLC, she believes the family’s goals are the top priority, and provides an unbiased, professional opinion. She likes to meet her families where they are and create a roadmap to get them where they want to go in their journey, empowering them as the experts on their babies. A native of the southern Virginia area but has lived in many places through her family's military service, settling in the Loudoun County area now.
While pursuing her IBCLC certification, she completed her clinical internship within the DMV communities alongside local IBCLC mentors and launched a career as a doula, specializing in birth and postpartum support. She is a member of the US Breastfeeding Committee and the US Lactation Consultant Association.
