My name is Emily Watts and as a certified doula, I am beyond excited to be able to offer this service to expecting families in my area. I will be embracing guiding them through this part of their journey and helping them love the process and seeing the joy that comes with every aspect this path has to offer.
As a passionate birth worker I began with assisting families through the ups and downs of pregnancy 8 years ago as a prenatal and postpartum massage therapist. I use that wealth of knowledge and a holistic approach to supporting families during pregnancy, birth, and beyond. In addition to my massage therapy background, I am certified in many other pertaining positions including breastfeeding counselor and perinatal nutritionist.
I am committed to offering evidence-based care to empower families through the transformative experience of childbirth. I believe that every birth—whether at home, in a birth center, or hospital, whether you wish to have an unmedicated birth or you need an epidural or cesarean birth, it should be an empowering and positive experience. My goal is to support the family throughout the entire pregnancy and birth process by offering personalized care, education, and encouragement. My goal is to ensure that parents feel informed and confident in their choices, giving them the tools to approach birth without anxiety or fear and with empowerment.
I have experienced birth firsthand through the births of my three extraordinary children and have the unique experience of having a hospital birth, a birth center birth and a home birth. I offer not only professional knowledge but also personal understanding. I know having gone through this process myself that birth is a life-changing, profound and transformative event, and my mission is to help families navigate it in a way that feels safe, supported, and empowering. I've lived in the Northern Virginia area my whole life and I currently live with my husband, three children and rescue dog named Peaches. When I'm not working I am usually always with family whether at home or traveling to visit them. I like to read books, go thrifting or antiquing, or study and research family genealogy. I also love the Nationals and baseball and try to make time to go to games. In addition to all this I have been known to volunteer my massage skills to teachers and veterans.
As a birth doula, I aim to provide compassionate, evidence-based care, and I look forward to being a part of your journey, whether you are planning a natural birth, a medicated birth, or something in between. Birth doesn’t have to be a scary experience; it can be a beautiful and life-affirming chapter in your life, and I am honored to be part of that journey with you.
