Meet Katherine, Birth and Postpartum Doula DMV

Katherine Kerns birth and Postpartum Doula dmv

I amKatherine Kerns, a Doula Carried Through–certified Birth and Postpartum Doula called to serve families in the sacred journey of bringing new life into the world. I see birth and postpartum as holy rites of passage—intimate, transformative seasons where bodies, hearts, and souls meet in trust, courage, and deep love.

My work is guided by reverence for the innate wisdom of birthing bodies and babies, and by the understanding that every family’s journey is unique, divine, and deserving of honor. I hold space with intention and presence, creating an environment where parents feel held, supported, and empowered to trust their intuition—not only in labor, but especially in the weeks after birth, as families settle in at home, recover, and bond.

Through gentle, heart-centered guidance, I support families as they navigate the sacred rhythms of birth and postpartum. Each moment—whether in labor, quiet reflection, feeding, or bonding with a newborn—is an opportunity to connect deeply, heal, and step into parenthood with confidence, grace, and reverence. In the postpartum period, I offer nurturing, in-home support that centers rest, recovery, and adjustment—helping families feel cared for in their own space as they learn their baby, process the birth experience, and step into a new rhythm of life.

I also weave in craft-based practices to honor reflection, grounding, and connection during this holy season, creating tangible rituals that nurture both spirit and body. My calling is to serve families not just physically, but spiritually—and in postpartum, that calling includes providing steady, gentle care inside the home, where families most need support, warmth, and grounding.
