Hi, my name is Shawniqua but everyone calls me “Shawnie”. I have been working with mothers in their postpartum and birth journey as a Postpartum and Birth Doula for the past 5 years. I completed my doula training with Childbirth International. Since completing certification, I have worked with over 30 families with birth and newborns during the first weeks and months of their postpartum period, assisting new parents with the transition to parenthood. I enjoy working with others as well as educating parents in the ever-changing world of newborn care. I am always keen to learn new skills to ensure my newborn care practices are the most up to date. In March 2022, I decided to advance my newborn care education a step forward and completed my Newborn Care Specialist course through the Newborn Care Training Academy. I indulged in this specialization because my love of children and supporting mothers through their postpartum journey.
I understand the importance and gift of a parent’s trust and I find overnight care absolutely rewarding, knowing that I have provided new parents a good night’s rest. I pride myself in being a self-motivated, hard working person with great communication skills and an enthusiastic nature. Aside from caring for mom and baby, other areas I am available to assist with are breast and bottle feeding, light housekeeping, and baby room organization. In my down time I love to spend time with my family creating memories to last a lifetime.
