I am a dedicated and compassionate birth and postpartum doula with a background in nursing education and student midwifery. Caring for growing families has felt like a calling from an early age, and my journey toward birth work began in 2013 when I enrolled in the Bachelor of Science in Nursing program at Washington Adventist University.
During my nursing studies, I discovered a missionary school that offered both a doula certification program and midwifery coursework. That opportunity introduced me to the world of professional birth support and inspired me to pursue the work that had always felt closest to my heart.
I later completed the requirements for a childbirth educator certificate through a birth center in Texas. From there, I began a two-year internship at NOVA Birth Center, where I trained as a student midwife and gained extensive hands-on experience supporting more than 300 births.
Throughout my internship, I served families in several roles, including birth doula, postpartum doula, student midwife, and birth assistant. These experiences taught me how to remain calm and adaptable, support families through a variety of birth circumstances, and provide compassionate care throughout pregnancy, labor, birth, and postpartum.
My work with families does not end when the baby is born. I find great meaning in supporting parents during the early weeks at home, when families are recovering, learning their baby’s cues, and adjusting to new roles and routines.
As a postpartum doula, I provide nurturing, hands-on care that supports rest, recovery, newborn care, infant feeding, and family bonding. These formative weeks are a treasured time, and I am honored to help create an environment in which parents feel supported and have meaningful opportunities to connect with their baby.
Motivated by a desire to serve families in my home country, I returned to Peru and volunteered in a hospital. There, I used the skills and knowledge I had developed to help families have more supported birth and postpartum experiences. This work strengthened my belief that caring for others with patience, respect, and genuine love can make a lasting difference.
My long-term goal is to complete my Bachelor of Science in Nursing and continue my education toward becoming a nurse-midwife. I am committed to expanding my knowledge so I can provide families with increasingly comprehensive, informed, and compassionate support.
It is an honor to walk alongside families during birth and the early postpartum period, helping them feel cared for, respected, empowered, and confident throughout their journey.
