Jessica Wherry

Birth Doula, Postpartum Doula, Reiki II Practitioner

Jess is a DONA International–trained birth doula with a Bachelor of Science in Marketing from Virginia Tech’s Pamplin College of Business. After completing her doula training in 2024 and receiving mentorship from an experienced birth professional, she began supporting families through a wide range of birth experiences, including unmedicated births, inductions, epidurals, and VBACs.

Clients often describe Jess as responsive, intuitive, and reassuring. She listens closely, adapts to each family’s needs, and brings a calm, positive presence to the birth space. Jess provides evidence-based information and nonjudgmental support while remaining actively involved throughout labor with comfort measures such as counterpressure, massage, movement, and position changes.

Jess’s passion for birth work grew from her own experiences. During the birth of her first child, she did not feel fully informed or supported in understanding her options, and the experience ultimately resulted in a cesarean birth. When preparing for her second birth, Jess pursued a VBAC and found the empowering doula support she had been missing. She completed her own doula training during that pregnancy, inspired to help other families feel informed, confident, and respected—regardless of how their birth unfolds.

In addition to her birth doula training, Jess is a Reiki II practitioner. She also offers families a unique way to capture a mother’s intrauterine sounds, which can later be used as familiar, soothing background noise for babies during the fourth trimester and beyond.

As a mother of two toddlers, Jess understands firsthand the joys and challenges of pregnancy, birth, and early parenthood. She looks forward to connecting with families and helping them feel heard, empowered, and genuinely supported throughout their journey.
