Birth Doula, Postpartum Doula

Hello, I’m Lydia! I’m a birth and postpartum doula serving families throughout the Washington, DC metro area. I provide compassionate, evidence-based support designed to help families feel confident, informed, respected, and genuinely cared for throughout pregnancy, labor, birth, and the postpartum transition.

I believe every family—regardless of background, identity, or family structure—deserves access to respectful, inclusive, and individualized doula care. As your doula, I will honor your autonomy, help you understand your options, and support you in making the decisions that feel right for your family.

During our time together, I provide:

  • Continuous physical and emotional support
  • Evidence-based information and reliable resources
  • Help exploring birth and postpartum options
  • A calm, steady, and nonjudgmental presence
  • Support centered on your individual values and preferences

My role is never to make decisions for you. It is to help you feel prepared, supported, and empowered as you navigate your own unique birth and postpartum experience. My interest in birth and postpartum support grew from a longstanding passion for child development and whole-family care. Throughout high school and college, I worked as a nanny and childcare provider for local families. These experiences gave me valuable hands-on experience caring for children from infancy through early childhood. They also taught me the importance of building trusting relationships with parents and creating safe, nurturing environments in which the entire family can feel supported.

I earned my bachelor’s degree in anthropology from The George Washington University, where I studied pregnancy, childbirth, and postpartum traditions across cultures. This academic background expanded my understanding of the many ways families experience pregnancy and birth. It also introduced me to birth equity and the barriers families may encounter when seeking accessible, knowledgeable, and compassionate maternity care. This work ultimately inspired me to pursue professional doula support.

I completed a full-spectrum doula training program through Doula Trainings International and additional coursework in:

  • Childbirth education
  • Lactation and breastfeeding support
  • Newborn care
  • Infant and child development

I bring together my background in family support, anthropology, childcare, and professional doula training to provide knowledgeable and compassionate care that remains centered on each family’s individual needs.

Whether you are preparing for birth, navigating early postpartum recovery, adjusting to life with a newborn, or simply looking for a calm and reassuring presence, I would be honored to support your family.
