Shawnie James
With more than eight years of experience and over 50 families served—including many repeat clients—I am a Certified Birth Doula, Certified Postpartum Doula, and Certified Newborn Care Specialist dedicated to providing nurturing, knowledgeable, and empowering support throughout pregnancy, birth, and the fourth trimester.
I am also eligible to provide services through Carrot Fertility benefits, helping more families access high-quality birth, postpartum, and newborn care through their employer-sponsored fertility and family-building benefits.
As the mother of three beautiful daughters, nurturing others comes naturally to me. Being a doula is far more than a profession—it is a lifestyle, a calling, and a privilege. I cherish every opportunity to walk alongside families as they welcome new life and adjust to the many physical and emotional changes that accompany birth and early parenthood.
During pregnancy and birth, I provide evidence-based education, emotional reassurance, hands-on comfort, and grounded guidance. My goal is to help parents understand their options, communicate their preferences, and feel informed and confident throughout their birth experience.
My support continues after the baby arrives. As a postpartum doula and newborn care specialist, I assist families with postpartum recovery, newborn care, infant feeding, soothing techniques, sleep routines, and the transition into life with a new baby. I tailor my care to each family’s individual needs while creating opportunities for parents to rest, recover, bond, and build confidence.
My approach combines professionalism and experience with genuine warmth. I want every parent I support to feel heard, respected, reassured, and capable as they transition into their new role.
When I am not supporting families, you will most often find me surrounded by the people I love—enjoying family time, creating memories, and staying grounded so I can continue showing up fully and joyfully for the families I serve.
It is an honor to provide compassionate, dependable support as families prepare for birth, welcome their babies, and settle into parenthood.
