In addition to the childbirth education options already offered (HypnoBirthing® or comprehensive group courses) Balanced Birth Support also offers the additional prenatal services and workshops. Each service and workshop is independently designed (but can be combined) to help you prepare for the birth of your baby and your first months together. All group workshops are located at Body in Balance Center (unless otherwise stated) in Alexandria convenient to DC, MD and Virginia.

HypnoBirthing Skills/Refresher

This group course is offered to families who have taken a HypnoBirthing with a prior pregnancy OR for families who have taken another form of childbirth class and interested in HypnoBirthing skills only.

Prenatal Doula

This option is designed for those who do not want or feel they need an extra support person at their birth but would like support navigating through pregnancy and preparing for birth

    *two in home visits to discuss birth visions,  partner involvement, birth location, care provider, overview of labor, comfort measures what to expect after birth, newborn procedures etc

Newborn Care

2.5 hour class preparing you for the first 6 weeks after your baby is born. Class includes a resource list of area providers including suggested post partum doulas, a workbook containing all materials covered in class, handouts for easy access after baby is born, access via email for questions/concerns before and after baby is born (24-48 hour response time)

Birth Preparation

Virtual preparation regarding your options during your pregnancy and birth

    *Via telephone we will discuss what your visions are for your birth, your options, terminology and their meanings (ex; IFM, AROM, vitamin K etc) specifically for your birth
    *I will guide you through the process of starting and preparing your birth plan giving you tips and important information to include so that it is actually read and appreciated during your birth
    *You will also receive example stock birth plans for your review  that have been very well received among local Obstetricians and Midwives
    *Email communication to answer questions and help with ongoing birth preference revisions

Cesarean Birth Preparation

Via telephone we will discuss what your visions are for your birth and options specific to your family and birthing location.
